MTV signs AT&T, Nike for Video Music Awards

MTV has signed Adidas America, Airwalk, AT&T Corp., Best Buy, Budweiser, Levi's, Nike, Pepsi-Cola, Sony Playstation and Taco Bell as broadcast sponsors of its "1996 MTV Video Music Awards," or "VMAs," as MTV would like to brand it. In addition, Best Buy, Levi's and Sony are each supporting their ad buys with their own print and TV ads, plus retail and sweepstakes promotions. The broadcast airs Sept. 4.
