Called MTV Asia Online, the venture will develop language-specific Web sites customized for MTV's young adult audience throughout Asia during the next few months, starting with the relaunch of the existing English-language site targeting Southeast Asian audiences during the second quarter of this year. A Chinese-language site will be introduced during third quarter.
"Just as MTV approaches each market individually with customized programming on air, so will our Internet presence in Asia be customized for our audience both in content and in language," says Frank Brown, president of MTV Networks Asia.
MTV Networks Asia broadcasts three feeds in Asia aimed at Indian, Chinese, and Southeast Asian young adults.
Advertising will be handled by a dedicated sales staff from Tricast, although no advertisers have yet been signed up for the relaunched site.
