(Aug. 6, 2001) -- Interpublic Group of Cos.' Mullen, Wenham, Mass., today laid off 13 people, or 4% of its staff, across all lines of service.

An agency spokeswoman said the cut, the agency's first of the current economic slowdown, is due to market factors, not an account loss.

Mullen's North Carolina office, Mullen/LHC, in June laid off 30 people, or 20% of its staff, due to account shifts. -- Hillary Chura
