(June 19, 2001) -- Mullen/LHC, Winston-Salem, N.C., today will lay off 30 employees, or 20% of its staff, due to client losses and the slowing advertising environment. The reductions will affect all lines of business, a spokeswoman for the Interpublic Group of Cos. unit said.

Mullen/LHC this year has lost Sara Lee Corp.'s $10 million to $15 million Hanes account as well as the estimated $8 million Thomasville Furniture account. The spokeswoman said the layoffs would be confined to North Carolina and not reach the Wenham, Mass., headquarters. -- Hillary Chura
