Multichannel ad bureau picks first leaders

NEW YORK -- The Multichannel Advertising Bureau International (MAB International), which was created in September 1996 as a trade association to promote the placement of advertising on member companies' networks and cable systems around the world, has elected its first officers.

The MAB International officers are: chairman - David Levy, executive vice president of International Ad Sales at Turner Broadcasting Sales; vice chairman - Barry Frey, managing director of international sales and new business at USA Networks; treasurer - Michael Fox, director of worldwide advertising at ESPN; secretary - Nick Makris, programming manager at Bresnan Communications.

The U.S.-based Cable Advertising Bureau (CAB) set up MAB International, which is now a free standing trade association and is funded and staffed independently of CAB's domestic operations. Its main functions include working with multichannel advertisers and agencies to develop specific research guidelines and to help set standards for multichannel audience research.
