Music companies form alliance to sell online

Published on .

Web site Muze, streaming software company Liquid Audio and music distributor Baker & Taylor Entertainment formed an alliance July 15 to sell and distribute albums for musicians not currently signed by a major label.

The partnership creates a system in which artists can digitally encode, promote and distribute their music. To promote musicians participating in the program, Liquid Audio is kicking off the Liquid Music Network, which will be syndicated to affiliate online music sites. Muze will also promote these artists by listing them in its database, which is searched by music retailers. Baker & Taylor would fulfill orders.
