NAA seeks repeal of co-ownership prohibition

Published on .

The Newspaper Associaton of America joined Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) in supporting the Newspaper Ownership Act, a bill introduced April 28 that prohibits newspapers from being co-owned with radio or TV stations. The NAA filed a petition in support of Sen. McCain's bill, which directs the Federal Communications Commission to repeal the cross-ownership restrictions within 90 days of enactment. The NAA called the law "discriminatory and unnecessary."
