The National Adveritising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus announced its ruling today in BMW's deceptive advertising complaint against Volvo for Volvo's TV spot showing its 850 turbo wagon accelerating faster than a BMW 3281 sedan. NAD decided Volvo's acceleration testing was "conducted in a reasonable manner." Still, NAD recommended Volvo's ad shoudl have more clearly communicated "the magazine review nature of its testing methodology." BMW said it hadn't seen the decision and had no comment.
