NASCAR wins first dot-com sponsorship

CarsDirect.com, an Internet car company backed by Idealab, is the first dot-com company to sponsor a major Nascar Winston Cup event. In a three-year agreement with the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, CarsDirect.com will become the title sponsor of the CarsDirect.com 400 Winston Cup race. The race will take place on March 5, 2000, at the race track. CarsDirect.com says it is planning a series of Web site-driven promotions around the event.
