(June 27, 2001) -- Nasdaq has narrowed the list of contenders for its $25 million to $30 million business to three agencies.

Believed to be in the running are Bouchez Kent & Co. and WPP Group's J. Walter Thompson, both New York, and Havas Advertising's McKinney & Silver, Raleigh, N.C.

Executives close to the situation said Havas' Arnold Worldwide, Boston, did not make the cut, nor did New York shops WPP's Y&R Advertising, Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, Grey Global Group's Grey Worldwide or incumbent Euro RSCG Worldwide's Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer, a unit of Havas.

A Nasdaq spokesman said he could not immediately confirm the finalists.
