NBC affiliates refuse MSNBC cross-promotions

Upset over NBC's plans to cross-promote its cable networks over their air, NBC affiliates have told the network they will not accept topical, day-and-date promotion for MSNBC and CNBC, Electronic Media reports in its July 1 issue. In addition, some affiliates--led by WHDH-TV, Boston--are believed to have begun dropping promotions for MSNBC. The head of the NBC affiliate board warned more affiliates could do the same, which might escalate into a battle that could disrupt the network's powerful promotional machine.
