NBC debating a movieless Sunday

Published on .

NBC is considering dropping its long-running ``NBC Sunday Night at the Movies'' next season. If trial Sundays featuring series, including ``Frasier'' rather than the movie, do well in the ratings, ``it may be strong evidence that we'd be OK dropping the movie next season,'' an insider said.

Paramount Pictures Corp. enlisted Foot Locker and Turner Broadcasting System to promote the release of the Tom Cruise movie ``Mission: Impossible,'' opening May 22. On April 25, ``Win the impossible'' promos will start running during National Basketball Association playoff broadcasts on TBS and TNT. The Turner-produced spots will also plug a Foot Locker sweepstakes.
