As expected, NBC announced it is cancelling the low-rated soap opera "Another World," produced by Procter & Gamble Productions. A P&G spokeswoman said the company is "reviewing its options" and has not decided if it will shop the show to another distributor. The program, which debuted on May 4, airs its last episode on NBC June 25. The network also said it has renewed the low-rated soap opera "Sunset Beach" for six months, after which "we will take a look at the ratings and decide if the show stays on the schedule," according to an NBC spokeswoman. The network had originally denied the report in Advertising Age that NBC was considering cancelling both soaps. NBC is debuting a new soap opera, "Passions," on July 5; the show will be paired with the network's popular "Days of Our Lives." Also, NBC announced it is cancelling "NBC News at Sunrise" and adding a new show, "Early Today," that will be available at 4:30 a.m. (ET).
