NCN taps two execs

New Century Network, New York, hired two editorial executives to prepare for the May launch of its umbrella site featuring content from nine newspaper companies. Mark Frankel was named managing editor-news at NCN from general editor, Newsweek International. Mary Farrell was named managing editor-interactive features at NCN from editor of People Online. Both will report to John Papanek, senior VP-editor in chief at New Century Network.

New Century Network is a consortium of nine major newspaper companies, all working together to form a business model for capitalizing on each news brand's local content while also aggregating content brands and making national news products from multiple local news brands.
