Net advertising in Japan to grow by 150%

Expenditure on Internet-related advertising in Japan reached almost $13 million last year. But with nearly 50% of that total recorded during the last quarter, predictions are for this year's spending to top $32.6 million.

The figures were compiled by Dentsu, the world's biggest ad agency. It defined expenditure as both production and placement on major Internet sites. Depending on the results of its research this year, Internet-related advertising may be given its own section in the agency's report on 1997 advertising expenditures in Japan.
