Netscape closes AtWeb deal

Netscape Communications Corp. finalized the acquisition of AtWeb, a Sunnyvale, Calif., online services company. Netscape issued 3.36 million shares of Netscape stock to purchase all AtWeb stock and options. Netscape said it would keep AtWeb as a wholly owned subsidiary, reporting to the Netscape Netcenter division. AtWeb's services include services for Web-site owners, including site promotion, maintenance and membership services.
