Netscape gathers news providers in Destinations area

Published on .

Netscape Communications Corp. opened Netscape Destinations, a portion of its site featuring general, business and financial news. Partners include CNN, Hearst New Media & Technology, Mercury Center, Disney Online, AT&T, Sony Music and others.

Netscape will showcase its partners--all of who are customers of Netscape technology--in site samplers featuring "interactive index cards" that can be rotated on screen to give viewers a taste of a particular site.

The area further extends the trend toward consolidated information sites, where users can make one stop to get everything they need. Netscape Destinations will heavily target the business user market.
