Netscape offers free e-mail

Published on .

Not to be left behind by other portal sites offering e-mail, Netscape Communications Corp. announced April 22 that it was partnering with USA.NET to offer free e-mail on Netscape's Netcenter. The new service will be called Netscape WebMail by USA.NET.

The new service will emphasize Netcenter's existing services, including Netscape In-Box Direct, an e-mail publishing delivery system which has received more than 11 million subscriptions. Netscape also announced Netcenter now has 4.3 million members since the site launched seven months ago.
