Netscape Communications Corp. launched Netcenter 2.0 June 1, its portal site redesigned and bolstered with new features. The new site includes My Netscape, a home page designed for personalized content; Smart Browsing, a suite of searching services; and SmartUpdate service, which allows users to update Communicator client software as well as software from Netscape partners.

Smart Browsing includes the ability to search by Internet Keywords, which will incorporate co-branded Excite channels; What's Related, which will automatically generate relevant products and services relevant to a keyword search; and NetWatch, the ability to screen out undesirable content, such as pornography sites. Smart Browsing will be available in August.
