networthy: The Weather Channel

By Published on .

The concept: Weather updates delivered to users' PCs

The technology: Push

The scoop: The Weather Channel is pushing weather updates to users over Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and BackWeb, and will soon launch a channel on Netscape Netcaster. Users can select which cities they're interested in, and weather updates are sent automatically up to every 15 minutes. When users click on the Weather Channel icon on their desktop, they can read the conditions offline or link to the Web site.

Where to find it: www.weather.com, www.microsoft.com, www.backweb.com.
