News Corp., MCI ready venture

News Corp. and MCI Communications Corp. will soon bring to reality theiralliance and launch a new online service that will fold together News Corp.'sstruggling Delphi Internet Services Corp.with internetMCI. Scott Kurnit,formerly president of MCI Information Services Co., will become president-CEO ofthe yet-to-be-named online venture. Anthea Disney, formerly editor of TV Guide,will become editor in chief of the new service.

As part of the launch, MCI and News Corp. will host a contest to "name the newnet," with the winner receiving $5,000. The service, parts of which will besubscription-based, will reside on the Internet's World Wide Web.

"You've got the best of both worlds--MCI which is a classy marketer that canreach and persuade people," said Ms. Disney in an interview. "And News Corp. isa great content company--this creates a perfect combination."
