Amazon.com and toy-retailing partner Toysrus.com will begin selling their limited inventory of Sony's PlayStation 2 consoles at noon Pacific time on Oct. 26. Widely considered one of this season's hottest toys, the gaming console system will be available on a first-come/first-served basis. Like other retailers, Toysrus.com and Amazon.com say they expect to receive additional shipments before the holidays, but due to limited production, it's not known when or how many PlayStation 2s will be available.

America Online rolled out various aspects of its "AOL Anywhere" strategy this week, including AOL 6.0, which features new applications such as "AOL by Phone", allowing users to check e-mail via the telephone and simple voice commands; an "AOL Anywhere'' Web site, allowing access to AOL from any computer, TV or wireless device; a built-in media player; and full support for all broadband platforms. The giant online services provider is readying a marketing campaign introducing the new AOL 6.0 including distribution of an new guide to AOL, "Wired in a Week," to new online users.
