Burst.com, which offered delivery of online video and audio, cut 80% of its workforce Nov. 20, closed six of its sales offices and reduced overhead to about $500,000 a month in an attempt to survive the current market environment for dot-com startups. The company reduced its staff to 18 from 95 with the deepest cuts in the marketing and sales divisions.

Fifty retailers at Palisades Center Mall, West Nyack, N.Y., are trying voice and mobile commerce wireless services to deliver targeted local shopping information, promotions and news to shoppers during the holiday shopping season. GeePS.com, a location-sensitive wireless provider, is handling the mall's "Go Power Shopping" program.
