Online beauty product site Eve.com, San Francisco, funded in part by venture capital firm Idealab!, Menlo Ventures and Charter Capital, launches this week with $3.2 million in first-round financing. The site will sell cosmetics, bath and aromatherapy products, fragrances and other beauty products for women. Marleen McDaniel, CEO of Women.com, will serve as one of the company's board members.

E-mail service provider USA.Net launched USA.Net Ad mail, which tries to integrate e-mail with classified advertising. The new service allows newspapers to add a temporary e-mail address to each classified ad so that advertisers can get electronic, anonymous responses to their ads.

Quantum Leap Communications, Chicago, won a Web project from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
