'Newsweek' names new publisher

Carolyn Wall was named publisher of Newsweek, succeeding Gregory Osberg, who left last year to join C-Net. She is the former president of WBIS+, the former Dow Jones/ITT start-up TV venture. Editor in Chief-CEO Richard M. Smith assumes the additional title of chairman, while Harold Shain, exec VP-publisher, becomes president and chief operating officer.
