Nielsen Media Research, New York, is partnering with Internet measurement company NetRatings, Milpitas, Calif., to offer a combined service called Nielsen NetRatings. Under the terms of the deal, Nielsen will take an equity stake in NetRatings, and two of its executives will join NetRatings' board. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Nielsen said the new service will offer Internet audience measurement through a protectable panel and technology that tracks user Web activity. Earlier this month, NetRatings competitors Media Metrix, New York, and RelevantKnowledge, Atlanta, announced plans to merge under the Media Metrix name.
