Nike named VP-U.S. Apparel Larry Miller to be president of its Jordan brand and said it intends to make the Jordan brand a separate, stand-alone business unit. Organizational details will be finalized within the next year. It's not known what official role or title National Basketball Association superstar Michael Jordan will have in the unit. In TV spots from Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore., Mr. Jordan has been positioned as the CEO of the brand. "Its distinction from Nike allows it the opportunity to explore product avenues that would not necessarily be explored under the Nike brand," said Thomas Clarke, Nike's president-chief operating officer.
