Nintendo, Sony launch marketing blitzes

Nintendo of America, as part of a multifaceted marketing blitz for its Nintendo 64 platform, has inked Taco Bell for a multimillion-dollar promotion slated to launch Oct. 1. Nintendo also has a $7 million marketing push set to break June 30 for its Star Fox 64 game, an effort that will be followed by multimillion-dollar campaigns for other Nintendo 64 games. Separately, rival Sony Computer Entertainment America is about to launch a $100 million effort for PlayStation. An on-pack promotion with Pepsi-Cola Co. is slated for the holidays.
