Nissan restructures in U.S.

Published on .

Nissan Motor Co. said it will merge its Nissan North America and Nissan Motor Corp. USA units, both in Torrance, Calif., by the end of the year as part of a plan for "more efficient market-oriented business management" as it prepares to launch eight new models over the next 18 months. Nissan also said it plans an unspecified "further consolidation of U.S. operations" as part of its effort to reduce costs, though it said no staff cuts are expected. Marketing, ad, sales and service functions handled by Nissan Motor Corp. USA will be consolidated with Nissan North America; Nissan said it will release details later.
