Nissan on March 26 opens its first North American corporate site and a revamped car site. The corporate site, created by Nissan PR firm Porter Novelli, Los Angeles, will be a gateway to more than a dozen Nissan car and non-automotive companies in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. It will feature an interactive tour of Nissan's Smyrna, Tenn., car factory.

The new Nissan Motor Corp. USA site, created by ad agency TBWA Chiat/Day, Venice, Calif., will play off the ad theme "Life is a Journey. Enjoy the ride." The site has three sections--"Our Cars," "Car Crazy," "Joy Ride"--with product and price information and screen shots from commercials. Nissan also is introducing customized home pages for every U.S. Nissan and Infiniti dealer.

"With the addition of these two new sites, Nissan's North American Internet presence will be the most comprehensive in the automotive industry," said Don Spetner, VP-communications at Nissan North America. "Like our breakthrough advertising, we are clearly setting a new standard for automotive and corporate Web sites."

Added Tom Orbe, VP-marketing at Nissan Motor Corporation USA: "We have created an online experience that is as surprising and entertaining as our advertising."
