Nissan shifts to BBDO in Germany

Published on .

Nissan's German unit, Nissan Deutschland, switched its $55 million account to Duesseldorf-based BBDO, Germany's top ranking agency, after dismissing Omnicom Group sister agency TBWA due to dissatisfaction with that agency's work. TBWA's contract was to have run until the end of 1999. Media will be moved out of TBWA, according to Nissan, but no new appointment has yet been made. For BBDO, the appointment to a major car account plugs the gap left by the loss of the BMW literature and international brand-building business, which will move to Jung von Matt, Hamburg, at the end of this year. Prior to landing Nissan, BBDO was also pitching for Volkswagen AG's $80 million Audi account.
