Novell quits applications

Novell Inc. said it is exiting the PC software applications market and is in discussions to sell its Business Applications Division. Previous Novell management attempted to take on Microsoft Corp. last year with the purchase of WordPerfect Corp. and Quattro Pro; new management is focusing on networking software, giving up any hope of taking on Microsoft on all fronts.
