More Asian- and Hispanic-Americans than African-Americans are using the Internet. Once online, however, usage of e-mail, research and entertainment sites does not vary by ethnic group, says Forrester Research. Online shopping habits also are very similar as consumers each spent a total of about $250 in the last three months of 1999. Asian-Americans spent about $330 per person and African-Americans spent $225 each.
