NYT Co. in fight for 'Senior Golfer'

Published on .

New York Times Co. said it filed suit in New York State Superme Court to block the sale of Weider Publications' Senior Golfer to Times Mirror Magazines, publisher of Golf Magazine. The suit accused Weider of reneging on a deal to sell Senior Golfer to Times Co., publisher of Golf Digest. Times Co. said it agreed with Weider on Sept. 29 to purchase the title for $3.35 million. On Oct. 9, Times Co. said, it was told by Weider investment advisor Wilma H. Jordan of Jordan Edminston Group that Weider intended to sell the magazine to another party that had made a better offer. The suit named Weider, Times Mirror and Jordan Edminston Group as respondents.
