O&M buys Brazil agency

Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, a subsidiary of WPP Group plc, will acquire Denison Bates Advertising, Sao Paolo, Brazil. The agency will be merged with Standard, Ogilvy & Mather in Sao Paulo to become the largest agency in the country in terms of media buying (as verified by Nielsen), with total combined billings (estimated by Advertising Age's 1995 Agency Report) estimated at $268 million. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
