O&M buys Brazil's Denison Bates

NEW YORK -- Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, a subsidiary of WPP Group plc, will acquire Denison Bates Advertising, Sao Paolo, Brazil. The agency will be merged with Standard, Ogilvy & Mather in Sao Paulo to become the largest agency in the country in terms of media buying (as verified by Nielsen), with total combined 1995 billings (estimated by Advertising Age) of $268 million. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
