AMSTERDAM -- Ogilvy & Mather has bought Amsterdam agency DSDS which it will merge with its own office in the city to give the network a better balance of international and local business in the Dutch capital.

The new agency, owned entirely by O&M, will be known as DSDS/Ogilvy & Mather, Amsterdam. Chairman Henk Druppers will report to O&M Group Chairman Wim van Melick. The 60-person staff will work from O&M, Amsterdam's existing office.

O&M says the acquisition will also give the agency network a "stronger platform for future growth." It had been looking to strengthen its position in Holland for some time.

DSDS points to the emphasis given to brand expertise and integration at O&M as the main reasons for choosing the network as its new owner.
