O&M wins $80m GTE account

Published on .

GTE Corp., Stamford, Conn. awarded its $80 million account to Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, New York. Industry speculation during the review was that Ogilvy would win the account even though the agency currently handles Nynex business. Focus GTE, a unit of DDB Needham Worldwide, and Temerlin McClain, both Dallas, were the incumbents. Temerlin will continue to handle selected GTE projects. In addition to the incuments, other contenders were Campbell Mithun Esty, Minneapolis, and Wells Rich Greene BDDP and BBDO Worldwide, both New York.
