OFFENSIVE STUPIDITY

Published on .

As for "ads we can do without," you folks have run something fouler than any you've criticized. Take a look at this ad from Advertising Age's Creativity. I can hardly recall anything as offensive as this. When I first saw it, I assumed it was either a put-on or that it accompanied an article criticizing such offensive stupidity.

They manage to mock religious beliefs and practices, infant mutilation, accidental genital mutilation, as well as offend some of the more puritanical readers with an exhibition of baby genitals.

A stupid pun based on a non-pertinent and often offensive visual is one of the most common-and stupidest "advertising" techniques.
