Ogilvy buys Maxx Marketing

WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide has acquired Maxx Marketing, one of Asia's largest premium management companies from owners Michael Kwan, Ann Wong and Andrew Kwan. Maxx has offices in Hong Kong, Seoul, Manila, Shanghai, Bangkok and Los Angeles.

Says Mike Murphy, Ogilvy's CEO-new networks, Asia/Pacific, based in Singapore: "What is most attractive about (Maxx) is not just their ability to buy premiums in volume at the best possible prices, but the fact that 12 of the staff in the company are designers of tailor-made promotions, which they then fulfill through premium management."

With a staff of 35, the network's clients include Tricon Worldwide, Colgate-Palmolive Co., Bristol Myers, and Nissho Sangyo Group in Tokyo, which owns the Japan Baseball League.
