Oldsmobile, ABC set sweepstakes

Published on .

General Motors Corp.'s Oldsmobile division, Detroit, as part of the launch of its new Alero, is teaming with ABC Television Network for a giant fall-season sweepstakes starting next week. The "Start Something Tuesdays on ABC Sweepstakes" will give away 160 of the new General Motors cars in a random drawing Oct. 6. Viewers must watch ABC shows Sept. 22 to participate. ABC's shop, TBWA Chiat/Day, New York and Venice, Calif., created TV and print ads to break in weeklies Aug. 24, including People, TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly. Spending was not disclosed. The ads will explain how to enter. Entries will also be available via ABC's Web site at www.abc.com. The game's name is the same as Alero's "Start something" ad tag from Leo Burnett USA, Chicago.
