Omnicom and True North talks said to be back on

Published on .

Merger talks between True North Communications and Omnicom Group are believed to have resumed. A DaimlerChrysler Corp. executive confirmed he heard rumblings last week of the talks. TN's FCB Worldwide and Omnicom's BBDO Worldwide will be in a shoot-out Oct. 6 for the carmaker's more than $1.4 billion global creative and media accounts for Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge. ''If one buys the other, our business isn't automatically transferable,'' he said, because the acquiring shop would still need to meet the client's undisclosed review guidelines. Omnicom CEO John Wren declined to comment. True North executives said they declined to comment on speculation.
