Online auto-sales companies plan merger

Published on .

CarsDirect.com, Los Angeles, said it plans to acquire Greenlight.com, San Mateo, Calif. Terms weren't disclosed. CarsDirect said the deal will, among other things, give it more consumer reach by taking advantage of Greenlight's deal with Amazon.com as its exclusive online auto partner. Greenlight will be folded into CarsDirect. Greenlight hired Gillespie, Lawrencville, N.J., for a newspaper push last year. CarsDirect hired Siltanen/Keehn, Los Angeles, in May 2000.
