Online holiday shopping to boom

Published on .

Internet research company Harris Interactive's survey of online holiday shopping projected that more than three-fourths of Internet users (77.6%) will use the Internet in some capacity--either to buy or gather information--this holiday season. And while 8% of the current online population purchased a product on the Internet last holiday season, 32.9% of the current online population is planning to purchase at least one product over the Internet this year. In addition, women are nearly six times as likely to make a purchase online this holiday season than they were last year. The online population (32 million) is planning to buy about $9.5 billion online, the survey also projected.
