StarMedia says the initiative is in response to demand for U.S.-made healthcare products in Latin American markets.
Rx.com will launch Spanish- and Portuguese-language versions of its Web site, accessible exclusively through the StarMedia Shopping Channel.
The sites will offer the same services provided by Rx.com's English-language Web site, including 24-hour access to licensed pharmacists, original content on a range of health topics, information on thousands of conditions and drugs, and direct access to thousands of healthcare products. StarMedia users within the U.S. will be able to fill pharmaceutical orders for prescriptions written by U.S. physicians.
