Online shoppers who placed standard shipping orders on select e-commerce Web sites received their merchandise, on average, within five days, three hours, 18 minutes, during the second full week (Dec. 4 - Dec. 10) of the holiday 2000 shopping season, according to Bizmetric, a provider of online tranaction tracking and analysis services. In contrast, orders placed the previous week (Nov. 27-Dec. 3) were filled in four days, eight hours and 46 minutes. Computer shopping site Outpost.com once again had the fastest fulfillment time, of one day, 10 hours and 58 minutes, sending orders primarily through express delivery services. However, Amazon.com almost doubled its delivery times, from five days, 15 hours and 13 minutes to 10 days, 22 hours and 37 minutes. It took as long as 10 days to two weeks for several orders to be delivered. The results Bizmetric is reporting for the week of Dec. 4-Dec. 10 are based on 30 trackable orders among those placed on major e-commerce Web sites during that week.
