According to a new survey of 1,000 active online users by market research company @plan (www.webplan.net), 41% of the respondents have no concerns supplying credit card information over the Internet. That number, which has nearly doubled from last year, could predict a very good holiday season for online retailers. Moreover, the study found that 84% of online shoppers expect to purchase the same or more gifts this year over the Internet. The study also found that even the recent downsizing of dot-coms hasn't scared off this year's perspective online shoppers. According to the survey, among those aware of some e-commerce Web sites shutting down, more than three-quarters said this had no effect on their decision to purchase holiday gifts over the Internet this year. The survey, of 1,000 online adults (18 and older) conducted during November by the @plan Institute for Online Commerce, has a margin or error of +/- 3 percentage points.
