Online shopping store opens in Manhattan

Published on .

Virtual Emporium, a storefront consisting of nothing but computers set up for online shopping, opened in New York City Wednesday. The 1,500-square-foot store offers access to 180 online shopping sites. Virtual Emporium in November opened an outlet in Santa Monica. Both concepts feature access to Virtual Emporium's Web site, where consumers can tap into Music Boulevard, 1-800-FLOWERS, Gateway 2000 and other merchants.

Virtual Emporium said the Cybersmith retail store chain will open mini-emporiums starting in June. Cybersmith operates in Boston, New York and San Francisco.
