(April 23, 2001) -- General Motors Corp.'s OnStar division, Troy, Mich., is readying a new ad push with an interesting twist that arrives in May.

A new, national TV commercial from Interpublic Group of Cos.' Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich., will end with a cliff-hanger. Consumers wanting to see more will have to visit OnStar's Web site, which will also offer a sweepstakes.

GM said OnStar, an in-vehicle communications' and navigation system, has more than 1 million subscribers. Many of them are first-time customers who get the first year free when they buy a GM vehicle. Audi of America also said recently it will soon offer OnStar on its cars. The system will also be installed in certain 2002-model Acura cars by American Honda Motor Co. -- Jean Halliday
