Ovitz invests in multiplayer game site

Michael Ovitz's Yucaipa Cos. took an undisclosed equity investment in GameSpy Industries. The company creates software, including GameSpy and MP3Spy, and has a network of more than 30 Internet sites, including PlanetQuake.com and FilePlanet.com.

Yucaipa recently founded entertainment e-commerce site CheckOut.com. GameSpy Industries will use the financing to back its multiplayer gaming and streaming music technologies and services. GameSpy says more than 300,000 unique visitors come to the its network of sites every day.
